Eating out in Liverpool

Thirty years in has seen the culinary face of Britain and Liverpool in particular change out of all recognition.
My first meals out in Liverpool all those years ago were inevitably Indian or Chinese for they offered cheap tasty food with no frills. The other options were expensive restaurants, pubs or cafes. I remember a Wimpey Bar opposite the Adelphi Hotel, but there was no MacDonalds.
The choice of restaurant now is extensive and the quality usually superb. Prices are excellent and the numbers of students eating out is a testament to this. As a regular visitor to France, I can safely say that Liverpool at its best can match them at any level. As for the service in France....
that is another story.
The restaurant guide is divided into areas-
The City, which is dedicated to restaurants in the business area, many of which are closed at night and at weekends.
The City Centre is used for those that are popular in the evenings as well as weekends. Many of these are in specific locations that have evolved due to geographical reasons, for example, Ropewalks, Chinatown, Queens Square, Albert Dock, Hope Street, University and Others.
Suburban restaurants are included as there are many excellent ones especially in the sought after residential areas of South Liverpool close to Liverpool Airport.
