The most attractive residential areas are in the leafy areas of South Liverpool, Allerton and Woolton being the most expensive. The adjacent areas are now becoming more sought after and the quality of the housing in pockets of Aigburth and Childwall, Wavertree and latterly Garston and Hunts Cross has improved dramatically. |

These two photographs evoke memories of a different age when roads were similar to the lane above that runs between Allerton Golf Course and the grounds of Allerton Towers, designed by the same architect, Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, as St Georges Hall The only remnant of the House is the Orangery, and some stable blocks. The grounds are now a park. |

The suburbs stretch from Bootle in the North to Croxteth in the East and South to Speke where John Lennon Airport is situated. The River Mersey forms a convenient Western boundary. There are numerous old villages and towns, and in the centre of these areas, restaurants abound. As I live in South Liverpool, it is the restaurants in Allerton, Woolton, Aigburth and Garston with which I am most familiar. |

The local restaurants can now match most of the city ones especially in Allerton where there are over thirty and these areas are listed seperately. The photo shows Pod, The Other Place and part of Crichton's on Allerton Road. |
