All about an allotment in Liverpool
A blog to complement my web sites about Liverpool and my allotment.
Wednesday 11th April 2007

The weather continues to remain dry and today was a glorious day with uninterrupted sunshine. The temperature peaked at 15.6 but overnight only dropped to 11.8. I dug the last sod of soil on my allotment which is now 55 weeks old, I had given myself two years. Since Monday I have sowed French beans, carrots, spinach beet, parsnips, beetroot, lettuce and radishes, and have planted asparagus plants that I grew from seed last year. I expect to harvest it in two years time.

I am suprised to hear you are sowing French beans! Does that mean dwarf "bush" varieties? I have my seeds for some green and butter (yellow) dwarf beans, I don't really like eating runner beans! But I am afraid to put them in yet in case it is too early... I am in W. France with a mild maritime cliamte - what do you think?
